Fantasy Football Week 9 Wide Receiver Rankings

Fantasy Football Week 9 Wide Receiver Rankings
1. Andre Johnson (HOU) – If he could just find the end zone, Johnson’s fantasy numbers would be off the charts because he is racking up receptions and yardage totals at a record pace. Johnson has had no fewer than 9 receptions and 131 receiving yards in his last 4 games with 41 total receptions for 593 yards and 2 TD’s during that stretch. He is an obvious must start in week 9 against a mediocre Vikings secondary.

2. Larry Fitzgerald (ARI) – He is the consummate fantasy WR ranking in the top 5 in every statistical category imaginable at his position. Fitzgerald should be money once again in week 9 against a shaky 26th ranked Rams pass defense. The Cardinals should be bombs away in this match up with Fitzgerald as the biggest beneficiary. As a side note, the return of Anquan Boldin has shown no ill effects on Fitzgerald’s fantasy production. In fact, the numbers show that Fitzgerald is actually more productive when Boldin is also in the line up.

3. Brandon Marshall (DEN) – He hasn’t managed to maintain the break neck pace in which he began the season, but Marshall has still been one of fantasy football’s more productive wide outs. He should excel again in week 9 with a very favorable match up against Miami. The Dolphins pass defense is one of the worst in the NFL ranking 25th. In addition, they have given up the second most pass plays of over 20 yards in the NFL with 25 and the third most pass plays of over 40 yards with 6. This match up definitely plays into Marshall’s strength which is making the big play. Start him! Check injury report: groin

4. Lee Evans (BUF) – He is tearing it up lately and has yet another favorable match up against the Jets 23rd ranked pass defense in week 9. Evans has made a rich tradition out of torching the Jets secondary. He had 11 receptions for 210 yards and a TD against them in 2 games last season and 10 receptions for 198 yards and a score in 2 combined games against them in ’06. Even his worst game against the Jets over the last 2 seasons was solid with 6 catches for 72 yards. He is hot and this match up bodes extremely well. Get him in your fantasy line up.

5. Roddy White (ATL) – At this point we are starting to think that there isn’t a secondary on earth that can keep up with this guy. He continues to embarrass every CB he faces on a weekly basis. That said, he might have his biggest test of the season in week 9 against shut down corner Nnamdi Asomugha, but we have little doubt that White will come out on top. Besides, the Raiders pass defense as a whole is pretty bad and the Falcons will move him around to create better match ups. He is a must start with 25 receptions for 357 yards and 4 TD’s in his last 3 games.

Fantasy Football Week 9 Running Back Rankings

1. Brian Westbrook (PHI) –If his monster effort in week 8 is any indication, we would say that Westbrook is pretty close to full strength health wise. He is expected to come up big again in week 9 against a struggling Seattle defense that ranks near the bottom of the NFL in both run and pass defense. Westbrook is an obvious must start. Check injury report: ankle, ribs

2. Adrian Peterson (MIN) – He appears to be back on track and Peterson should dominate a Houston run defense that ranks 21st in the NFL. The Texans give up an average of 120 rushing yards per game and they have allowed a whopping 11 TD’s on the ground in just 7 games. Peterson is a no brainer for your fantasy roster in week 9.

3. Matt Forte (CHI) – While the Lions were able to limit Forte to 61 total yards by stacking the box against him back in week 5, he still managed to find the end zone 2 times in that game. Now that the Bears passing attack is clicking, we expect Detroit’s focus on defense to be a little more balanced which should produce better rushing numbers for Forte this time around. The Lions have one of the worst run defenses in the NFL allowing 163 yards per game with a rank of 31st. As a side note, Forte is currently on a 3 game TD streak. Get him in your fantasy line up pronto!

4. Earnest Graham (TB) – With Warrick Dunn missing practice again on Thursday, it appears that Graham will likely see a heavy workload on Sunday. Graham hasn’t been lighting it up lately in terms of yardage, but that should change in week 9 with a very promising match up against Kansas City. The Chiefs have the worst run defense in the NFL by far allowing a ridiculous 197 ground yards per game. They have also given up a league worst 14 rushing TD’s in just 7 games. Graham should dominate in week 9 and he should be on your fantasy roster.

5. Michael Turner (ATL) – At this point, it is obvious that Turner is only as good as his match up will allow him to be. Fortunately, week 9 provides fantasy owners with an excellent match up against a very porous Oakland run defense. The Raiders have allowed 11 rushing TD’s in 7 games and give up 144 ground yards per game. Turner should be great again in week 9.

Fantasy Football Week 9 QB Rankings

1. Kurt Warner (ARI) – The hot handed Warner will take the air show on the road to St. Louis in week 9 to take on his former team. While the Rams pass defense has mildly improved in recent weeks, they are far from solid. St. Louis currently ranks 26th in the NFL against the pass. Now that Anquan Boldin is back in the Cardinals line up, Warner has three very capable receivers at his disposal, and the Arizona passing attack is arguably the most dangerous in the NFL. Warner should shred the Rams secondary in week 9.

2. Donovan McNabb (PHI) – In spite of his struggles to find the end zone in recent weeks, McNabb remains a must start fantasy option with the right match up. Fortunately, week 9 presents an excellent match up against Seattle. The Seahawks have one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL allowing 245 yards per game. In addition, they have given up 11 passing TD’s in 7 games, so the odds are in McNabb’s favor to find pay dirt at least once, if not multiple times. This should prove to be one of his better performances of the season.

3. Jay Cutler (DEN) – He hit a bit of a rough patch before the week 8 bye with many of the key members of his supporting cast sidelined with injuries. Cutler should have most, if not all of those guys back in week 9 which will be extremely beneficial to his fantasy production. It also doesn’t hurt that he will be playing against Miami this week. The Dolphins rank 25th against the pass and have allowed 25 pass plays over 20 yards in just 7 games (only the Saints have allowed more). Cutler should get back on track with this favorable week 9 match up.

4. Kyle Orton (CHI) – He is quickly turning into one of the more solid fantasy options at the QB position this season. In his last 4 contests, Orton has thrown for 8 TD’s and only 2 interceptions while averaging 276 passing yards per game. He should continue that trend with a very promising week 9 match up at home against Detroit. The Lions currently rank 31st in pass defense allowing 259 yards per game. They have also given up 12 TD’s through the air in just 7 games. Orton had his best fantasy effort of the season on the road against Detroit in week 5 throwing for 334 yards, 2 TD’s, and 0 interceptions. He should definitely be in your fantasy line up this week with this extremely favorable match up.

5. Matt Schaub (HOU) – In his last 4 games, Schaub has 10 total TD’s (1 rushing) and only 2 interceptions while averaging 308 yards passing per game. Granted, he hasn’t played against the stiffest of competition in those games, but it’s extremely impressive none the less. The good news is that Schaub has yet another favorable match up in week 9 against Minnesota. The Vikings mediocre pass defense currently ranks 20th in the NFL, so we like Schaub’s chances to extend his hot streak.
